PERSONALITYIf there is one thing that needs to be pointedly noted about Ignis it's the strong sense of duty this man has. Not just to Insomia but to Noctis specifically. Having grown up alongside the young prince, Ignis takes personal responsibility for him and wants to see him succeed, thus causing him to stand by him no matter what and do his best to guide him along. This sense of duty has extended to his other friends as well, as of late, and in general if he finds something worth fighting for he's going to fight for it no matter the circumstances. Now, does this mean that he thinks everything his prince and companions do is right? No. Because Noctis can be a bit of a dumbass and Ignis knows it but it's his job to stand by the other and help him find the right path so he does just that--even if it gives him the biggest headache on the face of the planet.
Now along with the sense of duty comes the need to mother hen people at times. Even when Noctis was suppose to be learning to live and function on his own, Ignis was there to take care of him and clean his apartment, cook him meals, etc. He still does this, even now, and it's not so much that he feels he needs to do it; it's that he enjoys it. Caring for others has always been apart of the position he's been groomed to have and he's just nurtured it into it's own thing now, unafraid to take care of others no matter how young or old they might be. He'll be the first person to urge someone to rest if they seem sick, the first and only person allowed to cook among their merry band of travelers, and as a whole is always prepared to mend clothes, listen to someone's worries, or whatever else they may need.
Ignis is extremely intuitive, which is probably a blessing in disguise given how..not intuitive certain people are. There's a reason he's the strategist of the group and it stems from him being able to look at any situation, find the weaknesses and strengths in whatever it is, and formulate options and plans that will benefit those he's with. Even without a military background Ignis has become quite good at this particular role in life and there isn't much that gets by him because of it. (Though without his eyesight, he's going to struggle with this particular feat quite a bit until he adapts.)
No matter what, no matter how grim a situation may be or how chaotic, Ignis won't back down. His strong will is why he was picked for the role of Noctis's adviser, even at a very young age, and it's only grown stronger with time. He's not easily intimidated by others and very rarely backs down in an argument or fight. His skill with words is just as mighty as his skill with his weapons and he's well aware of it. And perhaps it comes off as being a bit cocky at times but honestly it's just a simple fact that he's damn good at what he does and he refuses to bend to anyone.
Now this particular strong will of his also makes him a bit headstrong and that can definitely cause issues at times. Ignis wants things to go according to plan and hates when they don't, so much so that he'll get short with his companions if they mess something up because someone could have gotten hurt as a result! He wants things to go the way he's put them forth. He wants people to listen to him even if he's not the royal of the group which isn't necessarily a bad thing but with the wrong people? Yeah. It's probably not going to go over so well.
One trait that's a bit of a strength and a flaw is Ignis sharp wit. Why is it both? Because his tendency to get mouthy with others, especially when he knows he's right, can result in whoever it is he's speaking with to get irritated or outright angry with him. And sometimes Ignis doesn't know when to stop, his disgust for the actions of others sometimes outweighing common sense and he'll keep making jabs just to get his point across. He's not as bad as he could be though! And especially now he's a bit more mellow because of the whole blindness thing but frustration from that will lead to him snapping if he gets pushed too much.
When he's not around his friends, Ignis is a much more serious and abrasive person. The joking nature that tends to show itself around the others is carefully tucked away and he looks at everything in a far more calculating manner. Again, not a bad thing necessarily, but it can make him come off as a bit of an asshole. He doesn't really mean any harm by it, he just generally doesn't socialize with anyone that he doesn't know and approaches things in a much more professional manner.
